Q: I am concerned that I will be harmed by not eating protein every single day of my life. Should I supplement the Master Cleanse with some sort of liquid or powdered protein?

A: It is true that protein is necessary in your routine daily diet. However, in the thousands of people I am aware of who have done the Master Cleanse, no one has been damaged due to skipping protein for a few days or weeks. In fact, many people eat more than their “required daily amount” as set by the US Department of Agriculture. For instance, as a 62 year old male, who is 6’2″ tall, I only need 94 grams of protein per day. That’s less than 3.5 oz!!

Q: I’m not drinking the minimum 6 drinks of lemonade per day. Will that affect the cleanse?

A: In a word, yes! Drinking the minimum 6 drinks a day will keep your body’s water content optimum; help to flush toxins; and provide potassium, lack of which has been known to cause muscle weakness, an irregular heart rhythm, muscle twitching, fatigue, and leg & abdominal cramps.

Q: When should you start to take probiotics after the cleanse?

A: On the evening you resume eating solid food, take your evening probiotics. (I say evening probiotics because I take some that have two different capsules — one kind for the morning and another kind for the evening.

Q: What about taking probiotics during the cleanse?

A: The salt water flush will probably wash out most of your new probiotics. So, wait until you finish the cleanse before taking them.
